IBPS SO Eligibility Criteria 2025
Eligibility for IBPS SO is highly specific to the post. Candidates must meet the nationality, age, and educational qualification requirements as on the specified dates.
1. Nationality/Citizenship
- A Citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal, or
- A subject of Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- Note: Candidates belonging to categories other than Indian citizens must possess an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India.
2. Age Limit (as on July 01, 2025)
- Minimum Age: 20 Years
- Maximum Age: 30 Years
- This means a candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.07.1995 and not later than 01.07.2005 (both dates inclusive).
Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per Government of India rules:

IBPS SO Selection Process 2025
The IBPS SO selection process involves a three-phase examination structure:
- Preliminary Examination (Prelims):
- This is the first stage and is primarily qualifying in nature. Marks obtained in the Prelims will NOT be counted for the final merit list.
- Candidates must qualify in each of the tests (English, Reasoning, Quant/General Awareness) by securing minimum cut-off marks.
- A sufficient number of candidates (approximately 10-15 times the number of vacancies) will be shortlisted for the Main Examination.
- Main Examination (Mains):
